Before you read please note this is not a continuation to the other 5 chapters I wrote of “A Purposeful Life”.
You are Precious!
Isaiah is a wonderful book in Bible with lots of promises of God. Especially when you go through very tough situations in life this book gives you comfort, hope, inspiration and encouragement. The chapters from 40 onwards have great promises and gives us the courage to face tomorrow. One such chapter is Isaiah 42. It gives you hope when you think you lost everything and you are valued nothing. see the verses 1-4
“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope.” (Isaiah 42:1-4 NIV).
What a great uplift God gives us through these verses it says he found you as valuable and will fill with his spirit. It doesn’t matter what your current state is. Imagine a reed nobody really cares about it then what more about a broken or bruised reed? Who cares if a wick gets damped with dirt and water and cannot light up but just smoke comes out? Does anyone care for it? No nobody cares over it but see here a loving God is there to take care! Even if you are a broken or bruised reed or a smoldering wick he will neither break the reed nor will snuff out the smoke of the wick! What a great assurance! He considers you no longer unvalued instead He’s going to fill with his spirit and transform you to something precious what no eyes can every imagine!
Remember the verse -“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.” (Luke 12:6 NIV). If two sparrows are sold for one coin and for two coins four birds, but people don’t find the fifth sparrow valuable and is been given free for two coins! To what man considered of no value the Heavenly Father cares for that fifth bird! What a loving father we have in heaven! So if he cares for a bird that much how much more does he cares for you? when you think nobody cares for you, understand the Heavenly Father cares for you more than you think of yourself!
Coming back, Why did God choose you? Verse 6-7 says “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. (Isaiah 42:6, 7 NIV)
For a great ministry of anointing to show the power and awesomeness of God! And He’s going to transform you! But understand this transformation is not an easy transformation. You have to under go several hurdles to become valuable.
Look at verse 15. “I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their vegetation; I will turn rivers into islands and dry up the pools.” (Isaiah 42:15 NIV), God says He will waste or he will empty the mountains and hills and dry up all the vegetation which means the titles and positions you have might be taken away and the places you depend might crumble, the rivers will be turned into Islands and dry the pools which means the resources you depend on will all be gone.
When things starts to change in our life’s we become troubled and starts building up several thoughts. But God warns things go bad to worse and worse to worst. This is why verse 16 given “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16 NIV).
This verse says about the blind not a normal person. As a normal person we often find it hard and difficult to go to places not known to us before. In the modern world we depend on GPS and google maps to accompany to give the right directions and we know the tensions and troubles if we not able to follow it in the right way. Then imagine how hard is it for a blind person!
If a normal person become blind the first thing it’s going to come to him is he will get so depressed and will try all the ways back to regain his eye sight. But if nothing works and unfortunately he becomes permanently blind he will be more depressed and a state of insecurity starts haunting him. This makes the person feel just to be at one place (mostly his home) for the rest of his life.
But as life goes on he cannot stay in the house he’s pushed to move on and he slowly starts to understand the layout of the place he live. Usually they have a stick in hand so that they won’t bump into obstacles and they have a way of counting like from the chair they sit to the door is five steps then take right walk 8 steps to living room and so on.
As time goes by they adapt to extend there paths to work and back and pretty much that and they usually don’t like to have any changes to there routine ways as well as in the position of things because of the safety issues.
But see the verse we read, it says God will make the blind to go to places they have not been before and He will make them to go through unfamiliar paths. How hard is that? Why does God test the blind by sending to places unfamiliar to him? How hard God can be?
But see the next portion of the verse God says it’s true I am putting you in hard ways but I will not leave you alone there. I will be with you I will help you on the way I will be the light on your darkness and I will make the rough paths smooth and will remove the obstacles on the way. What a great promise!
Doesn’t these situations arise in our lives? When we go thinking everything’s fine all going well suddenly some drifts of plans happens in life and starts to stumble and we think Oh God! What’s happening in my life? Why is this happening? I been loyal and faithful and why this keeps happening to me? Isn’t He the God who said “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; (Isaiah 42:3 NIV)” then why is all this happening?
Remember my dear readers things happens in life not to destroy you, it’s the transformation stage. God is building you! Give yourself for the whole process so that you will completely transformed and will become something precious before others for the glory of God!
Remember Joseph? He was the dearest son to his father and this created gulf between his brothers to him as a result when one day when his father send him to check his brothers they took off his special robe and put him in a dry well. Later when they saw Ishmaelite merchants on way they sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver and was taken to Egypt were he was sold to Potiphar, who was the king’s official in charge of the palace guard.
For Joseph all these experiences were very hard he was his father’s dearest son but now his own brothers had sold him as a slave and he had to leave his place and go to a foreign land as slave. Later in Egypt he excelled in everything and his master put him in charge of the house. But his wife spread bad news about him and Joseph was put in prison for no reason. Days went by, months went by even years went by. It took thirteen years! Yes thirteen years when Pharaoh of Egypt had a dream and Joseph was used to explain the mystery of the dream the warning of the great famine that’s coming after seven great years of harvest and asked Pharaoh to be prepared for the famine after those seven years by building great storages and Pharaoh understood the dream and ordered to do as Joseph said and made Joseph in charge of everything and he became the Second of Egypt!
To Joseph all this was like a blind person going in unfamiliar ways and paths but in each theses chapters in Genesis 37-41 we see a specific thing God was with Joseph! When Joseph was sold to Ishmaelite God was with him. When he was sold in Egypt to Potiphar God was with him. When Joseph was in Prison God was with him and even when Pharaoh told the dream to give the right revelation God was with him and spoke through him what the dream meant and what needed to be done and it took a total of thirteen years of transformation in Joseph’s life to make him so Precious before his brothers who once sold him for twenty silvers coins. As said Joseph was like a blind who was undergoing tests after tests but God as said in the verse was with him showing light into the darkness of his life and he cleared the obstacles one by one in his path and lead him to a great success! Next person to Pharaoh of Egypt.
Same way my dear readers when you go through tough situations in life, when people don’t value you and sell you off do not worry. Put your troubles to God he will take care of you, you might have to go a very hard way but the end will always be great! So let’s leave our worries on God and move forward with God. He will take care of us and will show light to our paths, will help to overcome troubles and will remove the obstacles on the way.
