Walk in Light
Light is one of the main factors of life. Green plants absorbs the sunlight and through a process called Photosynthesis they make their food. The herbivore animals eat green plants and carnivore animals eat those herbivore animals and the food chain continues. The green plants also takes in the carbon dioxide what we exhale and converts back to oxygen during photosynthesis. All this process of photosynthesis is made possible because of light and without light nothing of this will take place and there will not be any form of life in earth. Therefore light has a great importance in sustaining life.
Even though light has great importance in sustaining life the primary use of light in our lives is using light as a source to remove darkness. In other words where there is light there will be no darkness. As darkness runs away or disappear when light enters the dark places.
Imagine it’s a dark night and there is no power. What will you do? Now a days we reach our cellphones to use it as a torch but in olden days they used to find a candle or an oil lamp and light it using a match or fire and there by allowing light to go around and remove the darkness around you. The light there by not only gives you light but also safety and protection.
It’s the same with our lives. When we face problems and we struggle finding no way out of it it’s like we are wandering in the dark. We become upset and struggles to find a way out of it. There’s where the word of God comes in for in Psalms 119: 105 says “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”(Psalm 119:105 NIV).
When we struggle and finds no hope and no way out of it read the word of God it will give you the divine peace you need the strength to face tomorrow, it will show you the path you should choose and guide you how to overcome the obstacles and help you get out of your troubles and achieve your goal.
For it says in Isaiah 42:16- “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16 NIV). And Psalms 119:9 says- “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.” (Psalm 119:9 NIV)
In John 8:12 Jesus said- When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12 NIV). What did Jesus mean by He’s the light?
In Isaiah 9:1,2 a prophesy is said as -Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan— The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:1, 2 NIV) and we see the fulfillment of this prophesy in Mathew 4:12-17 says- When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 4:12-17 NIV).
Here we see a crowd who been wandering in darkness. They been living as the shadow of death in other words they been living loosing all hopes in weary, distressed and troubled. Unto them was Jesus send as a great light to deliver them out of their darkness of life. To deliver them out of the shadows of death by showing his light upon their lives. Verse 17 says ‘repent’ for the kingdom of God is near which tells us the people were in the darkness of sins. But Jesus went to them as light and delivered them out of their darkness.
Similarly to the people who lives in darkness without any hope, weary, tired and troubled Jesus been send as a ray of Light, a hope to deliver them out of their bondages of sins. He did it by giving his life on the cross of Calvary. He who believes in him as Jesus died for delivering from their sins and accepts Jesus as Lord and savior will be saved. Jesus will come into the darkness of our lives and fill the light of heavenly joy and peace. Will you accept Jesus today in your life?
For those who accepted Jesus as Lord and savior in life they are the ones who Jesus said in the second part of John 8:12 – “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Therefore it’s understood Jesus had put His light in them who follows him. This is why in the sermon at mountain Jesus said you are the light of the world (Mathew 5: 14 NIV). And it doesn’t stop there but says what light does.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV)
As a city built on a mountain cannot remain hidden so is the light which been poured on you. As you won’t light a lamp and put it under a bowl but keep in a high and secure place like a stand so that others can see in the dark so should the light in you not be hidden but to be kept in high places so that people wandering in dark will be able to see the light of Jesus in you and be delivered from their darkness through you by pouring your light upon them and this is what God wants us to do.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV).
As we become light let’s leave all the elements of darkness from our lives as darkness cannot be there with light. Therefore let’s lead a holy life before God and shine more and more so the light of Jesus will be widespread into more people living in darkness and let’s finish our race of life faithfully. May God Bless You!
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:8-17 NIV)
