Spare Wheel…

Cars have become a part of our life. We cannot conceive of a world without cars today. A car is basically a transport system which facilitates us to travel from ‘Point A’ to ‘Point B’. We can see hundreds of car manufacturers and a heap of different models of cars they produce filling the highways and byways. Depending on the purpose there are different sorts of cars available in the market today, such as coupe, hatchback, sedan, SUV, MUV, vans, trucks, sports cars, off road cars etc.

When you decide to buy a car the major things you look at are the brand or the car manufacturer, the quality of the car, price, the looks and style both exterior and interior, the engine, fuel economy, the comfort above all ‘does it match our purpose‘. If you are a small family looking for a car for daily use like going to work and back, shopping and long trips once in a while then you probably need a hatchback or sedan instead of SUV as their smaller size helps to drive and park easier in the busy city traffic and they are quite fuel efficient compared to SUV and MUV. Hence, depending on the need different varieties of cars are available in the market today.

When you purchase a new car as mentioned above, you look at its price, performance and styles. You are truly not bothered about the tires as the dealer provides new sets of wheels. You don’t even bother to look at the spare wheel for you are sure every car dealer provides you a spare wheel along the car.

Mostly spare wheels are found inside the boot of the car. We often feel this spare tire too much as it eats up a lot of space especially if you own a small car. The spare tire sits inside the dark chamber in the boot never seeing the daylight without any purpose inside the car. In the new SUVs the spare tires are often found mounted under the car. Nobody really knows there is a tire down there. It is exposed to all outside dirt and covered with mud and smut. When you plan to go for a vacation in a small car you find it hard to pack the luggage inside the small boot and tend to take out the spare type and put in the garage to gain more space inside the car.

Thus, people really don’t give any special attention to the spare tire. When you go for a car wash, your car and the wheels get washed, but nobody ever washes the spare tire even though it’s in the car! When you check the air pressure of the car you usually check the running tires and but not the spare tire.

A spare tire has no flaws. It’s perfectly good as the other tires. Same company same type of tires, same air they fill in it, everything’s same, but since they don’t need until one of the regular tire stops working this tire is kept as spare. It is the same in our lives.

There are many people in the world who is in the same situation of spare tire. They don’t lack anything, they hold all the qualities and qualifications as others but they are constantly ignored by people. They are less valued by people. They are shut under the dark chamber in the boot of the car or they have been mounted under the car exposed to all dirt and smut to fall on it. As said nobody ever bothers to clean them while cleaning the car nor do they check the air pressure likewise certain set of people are constantly ignored and been shut down in the dark chambers of depression or completely ignored and given no value and are mounted to get exposed to all insults at them. The running tires laugh at them saying what kind of tire are you? What is your whole purpose of existence? You are of no use and you are such a waste. Same way people at times laugh at those who are going through this situation and insult them by asking what are you, what is the whole purpose of your existence? You are of no use, you are a waste. But as the spare tire keep quiet, they are depressed and keep quiet and try to hide more into the dark chambers.

But it won’t go that way forever. For a day will come when one of the running tires will burst or get flat and need a replacement. That day the owner will come and search in the dark chamber in the boot of the car or they look under the car or look inside the garage where he left you and get you out and you will be replaced to the other one. That day you will be valued more than others as you the so called ‘waste‘ become the ‘life saver‘ for the owner. The owner will be proud of you for you got better grip and traction than the other tires Therefore, don’t be upset when everyone keeps ignoring you, insult you, don’t value you, underestimate you and throw you into the darkness of depression for then there will come a day like chickens emerge out of the egg shell, you will break the shell of depression you are enclosed within and emerge out with great values to run better for your creator God.

Joseph he was eleventh to his twelve brothers. (Please go through Genesis chapters 37- 45). He had great dreams and hopes in life. All his dreams and hope were shattered when his very brothers sold him to the Ishmaelites for 20 silver coins. They even took off his special dress his father gave him and tore it off! They thought that was the end of his dreams and Joseph will never come out. Joseph was sold to a person named Potiphar a Pharaoh’s official in Egypt. Joseph even though he became a slave, he remained faithful. Potiphar made him to look after all his household. There he underwent many problems and was put in jail for no reason. He thought it could be the end of his life and never going to come out from there. But here comes a day when his dreams have shattered another dream is bringing new life in his life. Instead, he is having dreams, Pharaoh gets a dream this time. He finds nobody in the whole of Egypt to interpret the meaning of the dream. Joseph was brought to Pharaoh’s presence and God revels the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream to Joseph. Joseph warns Pharaoh about the great famine of seven years that going to hit Egypt after seven years of great harvest and also the solution to the problem by storing a good amount of food grains as stock for the coming famine. For even though Joseph went through such dark times in his life God was with him. None of the problems happened without God’s knowledge. God brought him to Egypt to make his dream come true. God filled him with great wisdom and knowledge to interpret dreams and the solutions. Pharaoh was amazed at Joseph’s wisdom and he appointed him as the next to Pharaoh! Later we see his brothers come to Egypt to buy grain during the famine as Joseph interpreted not knowing their little brother whom they sold has become the second of Egypt! See the amazing ways how God lifted Joseph! To whoever insulted him, God brought them back to respect him! What a great God! Therefore, don’t be worried about the darkness you face today since there is a brighter tomorrow where God will bring you out of all the darkness and make everyone who insulted you to respect you! His plans are far, far greater than our thoughts and plans!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8-9‬ NIV)

Same way David he was the youngest of his brothers. He was considered of no value and was sent to the forest where the wild animals lived to take care of his father’s sheep while his elder brothers served in the army! They didn’t expect any good thing from David and send him away from home to look after the sheep. We can understand this as Samuel the great prophet of God when came to David’s house he was not there for no one bothered to call him home. Samuel had come for a special purpose as God had told him to fill the anointing oil in anointing horn and go to Jesse’s house for God has seen one of his sons as the future king of Israel. Samuel reached Bethlehem to Jesse’s house and he looks at the eldest son Eliab thought he’s definitely the future king for he had a great outward appearance. But God warns Samuel not to anoint him –But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ NIV). So he called the next son and likewise every one came before Samuel, but God rejected them all. Then Samuel asks if Jesse had any more sons and then he remembers David. Samuel asks to bring him in for he won’t eat until David come. See the rejected one David, who was sent into the depths of forest where the wild animals live to take care of his Father’s sheep. God saw him in the depths of forest where nobody else saw him and made him come out from there by making his father to invite him back to his house! When the great prophet of God Samuel saw David, God asked Samuel to anoint him for God saw David as the future King of Israel! The rejected who was sent into the depths of forest is now brought out to be anointed one before the great prophet Samuel as the future king of Israel right in front of his father and his brothers who forgot him!

See God’s plans it is beyond our imagination! He works and make things when we think this is the end, there is no way out of this darkness and we loose all our hopes to live. As said in Jeremiah “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ NIV) God has great plans for you. Therefore, when you are rejected, insulted and thrown away and hid in dark places like a spare wheel don’t get upset for a day will come when God will act and the people realize the true value of you. They will come and search for you and bring you out from wherever they had thrown you like Joseph from jail and David from forest God will make the same who threw you to shame and insults to get you out of the same darkness of insults and shame. That day you and they will realize you are not an accident, but was created for a heavenly purpose!

Therefore be strong and be happy in the midst of rising loneliness, insults and shame for all this will pass away. Everyone whom you think love you may leave you alone. But do not worry and lose heart for there is a loving God who loves you more than anybody and who doesn’t forget you. He will take care of you and at the right time he will lift you up and bring you out of all the shame! You are valuable to him. He has engraved you in the palm of his hands! He will never leave you nor forsake you.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.‘(‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ NIV)

Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.’ (‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭4‬ NIV)

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭49‬:‭15-16‬ NIV)

“For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭54‬:‭7‬ NIV)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬ NIV)

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭4‬ NIV)

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.’ (‭Isaiah‬ ‭54‬:‭10‬ NIV)

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭40‬:‭1-5‬ NIV)
