A Purposeful Life
Greetings to all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I never thought I would write anything of my own, however, I got an insight to write and would like to express some thoughts that God enabled me to learn through the bible and life experiences before you.
I would like to start with ourselves here. As any other person we all are born into this world through our parents. We have absolutely no control on how we were born, which place we are born, the decision on who our parents and siblings are, the time period of what we born with, to bear a thousand years back or to born a thousand years from now or anything. Or in other words, we have no choice on our existence. But why are we born into this world? And do you think our creator God brought us into existence without any purpose?
You are unique
Looking at ourselves, the way how each one of us bears is unique. We live in a very technologically advanced world and with the help of modern technology available scientists always tried to find the secrets of life. It is a very fact that each one of us are born into this world not as what we are as we see now, but as babies. Again is that the beginning? The life actually starts, at least nine months prior to our date of birth. And the way how every person is conceived in the mother’s womb is very special. For example a female egg cell is conceived by a male sperm and a new cell is formed and that’s the very first step of each our life. But at the time of conceiving, it’s not just one male sperm entering the mother’s womb, but there are millions of sperm cells entering the womb, but that very one made it you, perhaps if some other sperm cell would mate the female egg cell it could have been somebody else but not the present you. See how amazingly and uniquely God has created you.
When God creates something he pays attention to even the minutest things in detail. Imagine the whole character or a male parent is summarized into the sperm cell which is invisible to the naked eye and vice versa in the female parent. When both are combined with each other, each one of our character is produced. It includes everything from your skin color, hair colour, eye colour, whether to be a male or female, the character of what you should become everything that you are now in every single detail in your DNA. So small yet so incredibly God has inscribed us in such minute forms.
If I go to explain the DNA forms I don’t think I will be able to present what I actually wanted to express. Each character of what we are is inscribed into the DNA of our body which lies inside each cell of our body! The cell is so small that we can only observe it with the help of a microscope and imagine the DNA is encrypted in the nucleus of every cell with every single detail of what we are. In other words, all what that we are is what our DNA is and this DNA is so huge and bombarded with information, but still made to fit inside the nucleus of each tiny cell! How wonderful it is! So huge yet so small! And it is present in all over the body, regardless of whether it’s the skin or hair or eyelash or buccal smear or excretion or anything.
God made each one of us so unique that our fingerprints and retinal scans are used as biometrics to identify person to person because no two people can exist with the same fingerprint and the retinal scan of what you have doesn’t match to anyone in this world! See, how uniquely God has created you.
Not just the fingerprints, but, the whole body as it all, every human has the same organs in the body, but everything is so unique to each person in the world. It’s a common issue in organ transplantation that the receptors body rejects the donor’s organ because the unique system of the receptor does not accept the donor. In short, it is made clear that each one of us is unique.
The way how God created each one of us is absolutely stunning. Even though the world has progressed so much, none of the supercomputers can match a human brain! A human brain is a billion times better than the best supercomputer ever built in the world. I remember reading that normal humans doesn’t even use more than 2-3% of the brain in their entire lifetime! It’s even said the great genius Albert Einstein even used less than 5% of his brain in his lifetime and if that’s the case, imagine how much percentage of our brains have we ever used in our lifetime! See how wonderfully God had created our brains. Again, if we go into details, it’s so amazing the way how God created the neurons and the reflexes in the brain and is the same way with each and every organs and organ system in the body! God created each and every individual so very unique and perfect.
All the reason why I was saying all this is to say as God created each of us very unique, there is a purpose behind every individual why God created each one of us in this world at this point of time, in the place where you are, with the family what you are in. With the present situation.
In conclusion you are not an accident, but God has a plan for you and that’s the reason why you are here today in this world, in this period of time, in the kind of family you are in with situations of what you are in a very unique way. All humans look alike the organs and organ systems and the functions all the same, but still so different in the way from one person to another!
This is why the psalmist said, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.”
Psalm 139:13-18 NIV
UPS & DOWNS IN LIFE
As I said in last chapter all are born into this world with absolutely no control on what and where we have to be, mostly the kind of family and the situations around you make who you are in life. Of course I admit there are lot of people who achieved great positions even being born in very bad backgrounds but I am talking here about the majority of the people. The way how the parents, teachers, society treat the person have great influences in life as most of the people will grow according to that. I am not here to talk about good and bad but I just wanted to give an outline of what I want to express. Well as a person reaches the age of 18-20 late adolescence his or her brain is fully developed and from the way how the person is raised the person have certain views on what the world around the person is. However it’s the experience that truly makes the person a true person of what he or she really is and for that the person have to undergo certain problems in life.
Problems in life is a very common thing in every ones life. You cannot find a person without any sort of problems in life. Every one regardless of age whether it’s a new born or a child or teenager or adult or senior every one have different sorts of problems in life. If we actually study about problems we can see the problems are of different types. For example the problem of a child is different to a problem of an adult or senior. And some problems for certain people which they see it as a huge problem are nothing for the other person who sees it maybe because the life experiences of that person made him more stronger or he might have a easy solution for that problem. This brings up a human nature to share the problems to others.
Sometimes the individual to whom we share have solutions for the kind of problem what we face. Sometimes the individual have no idea how to solve it. Certain times the answers from the individual finds the real solution of problems where as other times it goes absolutely wrong and mess up the whole situation and create more problems. So how can we really overcome the problems?
As mentioned earlier the problems differ between age groups as well as from person to person of the same age group. There is a saying for an ant it is the weight of a grain and for an elephant it is something of an elephant’s size. I hope this really helps to understand the situation. Depending on each persons ability, mental growth, the way how to deal with problems, age etc the problems differs from person to person.
Some people are raised with good parental guidance and trust. As the child grew up the child reach back to the parents on seeing any sorts of problem they face. But as they grow up if the parents always spoon feed them even after they become adults they will reach back to the parents even for very small problems in life. This is because the child as was growing up was prevented to think outside the box. The trust that the person can always depend on their parents and the way how the parents spoon fed them prevented the child from thinking how he or she can face the problem and as a result when it comes to a situation when the child have to stay away from home due to collage etc they find it really hard to face problems in life.
When it becomes to a situation they cannot go further they start sharing the problems with friends and good friends help them to overcome the problems but unfortunately some ends up going worse and fall into the pit of depression. But slowly slowly by facing more and more problems and solving one by one the person becomes a successful individual with a stronger mindset in body. And as they become more and more experienced the problems they faced before in life becomes no more a problem in life.
So how can we face problems? The best way to deal with it is the trust in God that through God nothing is impossible for Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13 KJV)“. The trust and confidence on God helps us to overcome all the fear of the problem. And when we start facing the problem in life we can see God’s hand in the difficult areas of the problem. Second thing is, even in the worst situation and even though it seems impossible never loose HOPE. For if we loose hope we cannot move forward we will fall into depression and depression is the worst thing which we can ever be. The third thing and most importantly people choose to share the problems to the friends and as said earlier good friends will help you to overcome it. The way how every one is bought up in the world is different. Nobody is born into the world as good or bad or anything but the life background, experiences and the ways what that person chose have formed the person to who the person is. So be very careful in sharing the problems to others. Some people may help you but some don’t even bother about it and some may find happiness in the problem and overturn it and the problem ends up to something bigger than it was before. so be very cautious on seeking answers to the problems from others. However instead of saying to others the best way is to give in God’s hands and trust in him, he will take care of it.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5, 6 KJV).”
Well moving forward it seems to be a common problem that being a Godly person, some people appears to have a lot of problems and hardships in life rather to other people in the world. It can be mental problems, sickness, money matters, relationships etc or maybe everything together and we keeps on wondering why is this happening to me. There will be times in life when you actually see it looks as if you just overcome a problem and thought everything just settled but in the next minute you see everything tips over and be in the middle of more deeper problems in life and you keep wondering ‘God even though I been a true follower of you why is this happening to me?’ Don’t you love me? Don’t you care for me? Don’t you see am a follower of you and others who are not have no problems but me being a follower have more problems than any one in the whole world!? Why is this happening only to me? Why me? And we really anticipate for an answer and finds no answer but pure silence from God. The times you wished at least God speak a word to you and finds nothing. The kind of anger and depression you face! Why does this happen in life?
A similar situation is seen in the book of Isaiah were God says “Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? (Isaiah 40:27 KJV).”
There are a lot of passages in bible dealing on problems and how to over come it but here I would like to draw your attention to a situation in 1 Kings chapters 17,18,19. It’s a place where we find one of the greatest prophets in bible. His name is Elijah. Usually if a person is introduced into the bible especially if he is a prominent person it always starts by mentioning the tribe the person belong to the family the great grandfather, the grand father, the father then the person but here from no where comes Elijah.
“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. (1 Kings 17:1 KJV).”
I like the way how he is introduced in the bible, unlike any other it’s not mentioned about which tribe or who his parents are but just said Elijah the Tishbite in Gilead. And looking to the next part is more interesting a person of no address is now talking to a person and the person is not a common man but is the king of Israel! The next part is most interesting for he proclaims on the name of God almighty on whom he serve and says without him saying again there won’t be dew or rain these years! Oh what a great entrance he made in! And from the following verses we know it happened and there was no rain or dew for next three and a half years! As a result famine became very severe and almost all food and water resources dried up but we know God led Elijah in wonderful ways. The reason why God send a famine in the land was because of the sins of King Ahab and Israelites – “And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him. And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him. (1 Kings 16:30-33 KJV).”
But when the time came up after three and a half years God asked Elijah to present himself before the king and elijah asked King Ahab to bring all the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah to mount Carmel and the set up two sacrifices for God and the God answers with fire is the real God and they went up the mount Carmel and setup 2 sacrifices but God pleased in Elijah’s sacrifice and proved who the real God is and killed the 850 prophets on the mountain. Then Elijah prayed and God heard his prayers and opened the skies and send rain! Oh what a wonderful ministry he did! Even when almost all of Israelites went to serve Baal and Asherah here is a man a who stood for God or in other words God kept him aside and proved through him Jehovah is the only God! Wonderful ministry. It’s more than any one on earth can really do! awesome!
Elijah might be thinking wow God is so great he used me to do all this unbelievable things and proved he’s the only God. I am now a free man, no need to hide anywhere as it used to for last three and half years. He made me noble before others.
But the very next day hits the real problem in Elijah’s life. “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the Gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. (1 Kings 19:1, 2 KJV).”
Elijah should have been stunned by what just happened, he found no other way but run for his life and so he ran for a day’s way into the wilderness and found shelter under a juniper tree. He might have had a flash back there of all that happened in front of his eyes and would have thought over and over again what really went wrong in his life.
Actually when we compare this incident to our lives does anything this bad has ever happened in our life? I don’t think any other man on this earth’s face would have faced such kind of problem. God said he listened,God asked he obeyed and did whatever God asked him to do but still why is this happening? He would have thought over and over again but no answer. He might have even prayed asking God to help him still no answer in the end he came to a conclusion. This is it Lord enough I can’t take it anymore. Rather than getting killed by Isabel God you please take my life off for I am done for now.
“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. (1 Kings 19:4 KJV).”
Still no answer and because of the depression and the tiredness of the long journey he went to deep sleep and God send His angel with bread and water and the angel of God asked him to rise and eat, Elijah ate and drank then went back to sleep but the angel came back again and asked to rise and eat for the journey is too long. Elijah got up he ate and drank and with its strength he walked for forty days and nights until he reached mount Horeb.
Imagine he would been thinking from the time he got up why God not answering him. He would have been so much comforted if God spoke at least a word to him but in this case not even a single word even after 24 hours, nothing the next day or day after, a week went by no answer a month passed by still no answer but he’s still walking and walking and in the end of 40th day when he reached mount Horeb he hid in a cave absolutely shattered in his body, mind and spirit, awaiting to die loosing all hope of life and not knowing what to do next, here he hears God’s voice asking “what doest thou here, Elijah? (1 Kings 19:9 KJV).”
“And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. (1 Kings 19:10 KJV).”
And God asks him to come out of the cave and stand on the mountain and as he does here the God comes, and a very strong and powerful wind passes by, the wind is so powerful that it even tears up the mountain to small rocks but there is no God after the wind comes a mighty earthquake and still no God in it and a big fire and still no God in it. Instead of Elijah picturise ourselves over there. We been so depressed and so much tired in all ways and after such a long wait of 40 days in the desert without food and water and loosing all hope and just wanted to die God asks you to come out of the cave and he sends such strong wind, earthquake and fire all terrifying things! What kind of God is this? Imagine what more can you take.
But the very minute after all the wind, earthquake and fire here comes a “still small voice” asking “what doest thou here, Elijah? (1 Kings 19:13 KJV).”
And Elijah breaks down before God “And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. (1 Kings 19:14 KJV)”
But instead of his wish to die God is getting him ready for a new mission! A great mission of anointing! “And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel–meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. (1 Kings 19:15, 16 KJV).”
Moreover to that instead of his wish to die in the desert God pleased to take him to heaven as such in body without death! “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. (2 Kings 2:11 KJV).”
What an honour? What more can God give him to honour him? Absolutely nothing. Such an amazing God! It’s as the psalmist say “O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. (Psalms 92:5 KJV).”
This is why after the question I mentioned earlier form Isaiah does not just stop there but with the answer
“Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:27-31 KJV).”
Therefore if you are a God’s child and problems keeps coming one after the other even after obeying God’s words do not worry, God has wonderful, mighty and tremendous plans for you.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8, 9 KJV).”
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV).”
GOD & MAN
Here I would like to discuss about God and mankind. First let’s discuss about God. Who is God? Some say he is a power, others say he is the creator. Some believe he’s everlasting, wisest among all and many other things. But who exactly is God? Is he a power, creator, wisdom or any other things? No, what ever said are few qualities of God but really not God.
It reminds me of the story how five blind-men went to see elephant. The first one got the trunk of the elephant and said elephant is a long pipe, the second one caught the tail and said no elephant is like a broom stick, where as the third person caught the ears and determined elephant is a big fan, the forth one got the tusks and mentioned elephant is of two trumpets and the fifth one caught the legs and said elephant is pillar. They tried explaining among themselves depending on what they felt and they began to quarrel and a wise man came and asked what’s going on and they explained what each person felt, then the wise man said what you all saw is right but actually elephant is not just what all you felt but it consists of all what they felt. In the case of God it’s the same thing. As some think God is actually not just power or creator or just anything but he’s has all these characters. The main characters what God have are omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, everlasting. But is this God? No, but they are a part of him. Then who exactly is he? God- nobody can really give a proper definition but in the scripture through many parts certain hints are given. In Genesis chapter 1 It tells us all about the creation of the universe, creation of all forms of living things including man. In the book of Job from 38-41 God proves his wisdom, power and the beauty of creations, Where as in Isaiah chapter 40 his describes how big our God is and in Revelations he says he’s the alpha and omega the beginning and end. And there are many more places where God’s Godliness is presented in bible.
Looking on to the world, how wonderfully have God made the earth? He made earth so incredible that even using the modern technologies we cannot unlock all the mysteries of the earth on how it all work. Imagine the number of different species of plants, animals, birds, fishes, reptiles, insects. How incredibly has God made each one of them! Think about the size of earth such a huge ball spins on its axis on an interval of 24 hours without any error from the time earth was created! The path that the earth revolves around the sun! Have you ever thought the distance what earth travels each day on revolving around the sun (2,575,200 km/day!) and the speed of the revolution of earth? (1,07,300 km/hr!). The speed and distance travelled by rotation of earth in its axis?(speed 1609 km/hr!) (distance 40,234 km). Can you imagine what happens if something goes wrong for sometime? What about the air blanket around the earth? How much energy is used in sun per second? The distance to sun? (149,597,890 km). The speed of light and time taken to reach the light from far away stars? The questions of universe keep on going and the more we learn the more we will understand how big our God is and his unimaginable Wisdom and knowledge. He has not just made an earth and sun but so many other stars, planets, satellites, galaxies, nebulas, shooting stars, comets and so on! Can we imagine who he really is?
The best part I really like is even though God is so huge he still made the smallest things. Picturise this. How does God the creator of all these who sits above the universe see each one of us? I mentioned earlier the universe itself is so vast that we cannot even imagine the size. And God who made all this such big person living above all this, looks down into earth and to his eyes we are so many times smaller than how we see microbes through microscope! Yet he made us, he knows each one of us, he knows even the inner thoughts of our heart and knows far more better than what we know ourselves!
God despite of his incredible size he still made the smallest things in the world. As we all know there is a hidden world of microbes around us which are invisible to naked eye but still God made them. He made the atoms and the protons, neutrons and electrons inside. Imagine the power of God his wisdom and knowledge! how incredible is he! And now what does man know about him? Absolutely nothing. Nothing in this world can phantom what he is or his wisdom is. Yet he made us.
The planet earth dates back to millions of years old and the universe dates back several millions years back. Even using modern technologies we cannot clearly mention the age of universe. But God he was here far too long before all these. He was here before time! He is here now and he will be there forever! That’s what it’s said in the book of Revelation “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Revelation 22:13 NIV).”
Now think about what man is? I have given an outline in chapter 1 about the human body. But comparing to God how big is man? I mentioned above our size is so small compared to him. In Bible it says “Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. (Isaiah 40:15 NIV).” Imagine how much more smaller are we when compared in person!
Looking geographically into the world we can divide the people according to the regions like Americans, Asians, Europeans, Australian, African, Scandinavian etc. again Considering each continents depending on the number of countries people can be further divided. For eg when you call some one Asian he can be an Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Japanese, Arabians etc. But when we focus into each country depending on the regions people can be further described such as in India, people in Northern India are called North Indians where as in South are called South Indians. Again looking into the regions according to what language the people speak they can be further determined like Keralite, Tamilian, Andra etc once again in each of these area depending on the tribes, rituals etc people can be further divided.
Politically and economically People are mainly divided as developed, developing and people from third world countries, religiously depending on the religion and faith people are further divided as Christians, Hindus, Muslim, Buddhist, Jainism, atheists etc. Again health wise people can be classified healthy, strong, weak etc.
God has created humans but in so many varieties. When we look in families people are different. Father will have different characters to mother and children the same with mother and each child. That’s called the personality of the person. Again when we look into society we see people of different characteristics. Some are rich, some are poor, some are philosophers, theologist, wise, Some are good people who does good things for the society by helping poor and needy, some are kind, some help the poor by giving financial aids, some by food, some help the sick, some take care of orphans and so many other kinds. There are people who does neither help any one nor harm any one, there are crooked and wicked people. There are people who boasts about themselves, money, strength their abilities, family background etc. Likewise there are many different kinds of people in the world.
All humans have the same body design except to the universal discrimination of male and female but as I mentioned there are many kinds of people on the characters. But the Bible says even if you think you are so rich or you have all the wealth of the world, whether you are a renown person or anything, you are only equivalent to a breath. If you cannot take the next breath to what you exhale then regardless of who you are you are no longer called by your name, but will be termed as a dead body. “You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. (Psalm 39:5 NIV).” Hence as apostle Paul said “Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:31 NIV).”
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1 NIV).”
Because you are living today because of his grace and not by your abilities.
And what God expects you is “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:3-8 NIV).”
In this chapter I would like to express about the unfailing love of God. So to begin with what is Love? What sorts of Love are there? What’s the difference between God’s love and human love? Let’s have a look into details.
In this world we can find various types of loves. When a child is born to the world, he or she is loved by the parents, then the siblings, then the relatives, then as the child grows up as he or she lives in the society the society loves the person and when the person finally marry someone, the spouse loves the person and again the cycle starts again. But above all there is a loving father in heaven who looks down to you each and every moment of your life, regardless of who all are with you and not. And that’s God’s love.
I said in the first chapter we have no control on anything about our birth when to be born, what family, what place to be born or anything but it’s all God’s plan and accordingly we are born into this world. The love of our parents especially the mother’s love is considered one of the greatest thing in the world. It’s a common experience even when the child is in a far away place maybe studies or jobs etc but when the child faces a difficulty the mother of the child starts saying my child is in trouble the same time. They don’t even know the situation what their child faces but they know there child needs their help! Such great and pure is mother’s love. Parents they love their children than anyone in the world. They even sacrifice themselves for their children.
Second in line is the siblings of the child. The brotherly and sisterly love is again another pure and wonderful form of love that we can find in the world. They have great influences in growing and forming up the child.
The relatives and friends of the family comes next and when the child grows up to go to school the teachers and the classmates will have love
But as the child grows up you can see the nature of love also starts changing. When the child is born he/ she is very innocent that regardless of whoever the child loves anyone who the child sees. But as the child grows up, slowly by seeing and understanding the world, the nature of love changes to person to person.
Finally when the person finds the spouse he/she starts loving that person very well and then it continues to the children “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 NIV)”
I have outlined what all sorts of love what we can see in this world and also proved how the intensity of love changes as the time goes by. The first love, the parent’s love is considered the highest in this world. But what then is God’s love?
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. (Isaiah 49:15, 16 NIV).” God’s love is far far greater than mother’s love which is considered the greatest love in the world! Even if a mother forgets her baby. God will not forget you, for he has engraved you in the palm oh His hands! Oh what a wonderful love is it?
When we come to the book of Genesis there we see God created a man in His own image and likeness and he called him Adam and later when God saw he was lonely he and took out one of Adam’s ribs by giving a deep sleep and made out Eve. They were put in charge of the heavenly garden of Eden in earth and asked him to protect it and to rule over all living beings. God kept one condition not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. They were very happy and lead a very happy life there and God used to come down to this earth himself every evening. But one day satan entered through a snake and told Eve if you eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge you will become as God and Eve ate the fruit and gave to Adam. They both ate and their eyes were opened and they understood they were naked and tried to make cloths out from leaves. In the evening when God came to the garden Adam and Eve couldn’t come to His presence for they knew they had sinned. But the God the creator of everything could have just slayed Adam and Eve right over there but instead God so loved them that even though they sinned understanding the need of that time God made garments out of skin and clothed them and in order not to live a sinful life forever and cannot be saved by eating the fruit of Life, God send them out of Eden. Genesis chapters 2 & 3. Hence all the mankind become sinners by birth. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23 NIV).”
Now the strong bond between God and man was broken. But God loved man very much and wanted to reach back to him, since God is holy and cannot come to unholy there was no choice. But even though man did wrong before God and made this separation between man and God, God made a way of redemption from sin of all humans regardless of race, colour, creed, nations or any thing by sending His one and only son ‘Jesus Christ’ to this sinful earth in human nature and giving him as a sacrifice on the cross of Calvary by bleeding him to the very last drop of blood of His body that whoever believes in him shall have their sins, transgrations and inequities be forgiven and moreover their name be written in the book of Life and Jesus Christ will come again to gather all who believes in him!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV).”
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11 NIV).”
““He himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 NIV).”
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9 NIV).”
For Jesus once said in one of His sermon there is no great Love than giving his life for his friend. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13 NIV).” And Jesus even though He didn’t commit any sin He bore our sins on His body and He was beaten up for our transgrations, inequity and sins and was crucified on the cross of Calvary. Now tell me is there any love greater than this? Can any of the worldly love can overcome this love? Nothing can absolutely nothing can. Such great deep love is what Jesus did to us on the cross of Calvary!
It’s a common nature in this world to do something good to people who has done something good to us or expecting them to do something good to us. But here God even when He didn’t need any of us for anything being almighty God, He so loved us that to bring us back to Him He gave His one and only son Jesus to we sinners without expecting anything back! Is there any love greater than this? Above all God the creator who knew the value of a soul is greater than anything in the whole world set up this salvation through Jesus Christ absolutely free! Can any sort of love be greater than this love what God did through Jesus? Such amazing love is what God showed to us on the cross of Calvary! And now whoever believes in him are no longer sinners but are called the children of God and Jesus is coming soon to gather His children! To have an eternal life in heaven! Oh such wonderful love God did to us! praise God!
Therefore my dear readers if you have not accepted this saviour Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour please accept him as your God and saviour. For bible says “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 NIV).” Therefore to accept Lord Jesus as your personal saviour you should follow this prayer loudly to confess it with your mouth in full submission of your heart, mind and soul and a decision to no longer follow the sinful life but will follow in Jesus ways whatever struggle which you may face in life. ” Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and saviour of my life, I believe Jesus came to this world leaving all the heavenly glory and lived as one of us and Jesus died on the cross of Calvary for the redemption my sins. And that you conquered death and resurrected from the dead on the third day and now living in heaven and will return to gather me. I confess only Jesus can wash my sins away and so Lord Jesus I humbly cry before you please forgive my sins away and help me lead a holy life. Lord Jesus please come in my life and take full control of me. I accept you The Lord and saviour of my life and to follow your commandments in life. Lord help me to do thy will. In Jesus name. Amen. ”
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9, 10 NIV).”
The Great Call
In the previous chapters I gave an outline on how every person is unique, the problems we face and its purpose, difference between God and man and God’s purpose, the great love of God and in this chapter I would like to talk about what one who was brought with such great love of God should do or the purpose behind everyone’s life. And that is for a great call but before that you should become the disciple of God
What exactly does a disciple mean? A disciple is someone who follows the life and work of his master in every form. It’s not easy to become a true disciple as it involves a lot of sacrifices and submission behind a true disciple.
There are certain basic qualities a disciple should have and it starts with the word disciple to be disciplined in life. The most marvelous thing about a disciple of Christ is when he becomes into Christ it transforms him completely as we see – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV).”
You can be a bad person who had committed all kinds of sins of the world, a very bad person but if u accept Jesus as your savior as the verse says it transforms you completely and all your habits are washed off and you have become a new creation with a new heart. You will be filled with such great joy and peace of what Jesus gives you in your life.
As a person accepts Jesus as his master and savior he becomes a disciple of Jesus. We live in a sinful world and it’s easy for us to move away and fall back into the hands of sins and so God wants us to keep ourselves clean and spotless until the day He comes to meet us either by our death or by His second coming in sky as it says in Ephesians 5:26-27-“to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (Ephesians 5:26, 27 NIV).”
In order to present ourselves holy and blameless certain qualities are mandatory for a disciple. And this includes being obedient and following his commandments in every step of life, being accountable & faithful, being selfless and sacrificing.
The basic quality of a disciple is to be obedient to whatever his Master says. As we see when Jesus called his disciples Peter, Andrew, John etc they didn’t say they are busy fishing or they have better things to do but they left everything and they followed Jesus. They didn’t think what about their future but they decided to follow Jesus. You can be a person of a high profile but if Jesus asks you to leave everything and follow him you should be ready to do it as obedience is the first quality of a true disciple. The next basic quality is to keep the Master’s commandments. Sometimes it’s hard to follow his commandments but a true disciple will always follow the commandments.
Remember when people asked Peter isn’t Peter and Jesus not paying tax? Peter was worried as he didn’t have anything but Jesus who knew his problem well before Peter said asked Peter to go to sea and catch fish and inside the mouth of the first fish what he catch will have a four-drachma coin to which Peter can pay the tax of both Peter and Jesus(Mathew:17:27). See it seems utter foolishness or irrelevant or not logical to anyone but when Peter obeyed he got the money and he paid the tax for both Peter and Jesus.
The next qualities you should have are being faithful and accountable. These are very hard qualities to find in people these days. Whether it’s big or small be accountable and faithful and if by any chance you not able to perform something you were supposed to do, inform others so that things could be settled well in advance. Again you might be a person of high profile and the work what’s given to you may not find something as of your standard but if you are a true disciple you should do it with your full heart and be accountable and faithful in the commitment you taken. This should be the same in your work or church or in everyday life and in anyplace. “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness! (Mathew 25:23)”
The next qualities are about considering the task in your hand more important than yourself and also being happy if somebody else be more successful than you. This is the hardest quality as most of us thinks without me it won’t happen or I could do better than other person. The most needed quality for Christ is considering yourself not important and the aim to accomplish the task important and also not to boast about if you accomplished something. It’s always a team work, not you accomplished something your own. It might be you alone who worked behind it but without your knowledge there may be many others who been praying behind your success and it’s God’s hands enabled you to accomplish the task.
Therefore as Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24 NIV).”
So what’s the use of being the disciple? This brings us to the great call. What is the great call?
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV). To spread the gospel to the people who haven’t heard about Jesus Christ the great Savior who died for you and me and resurrected and who is in heaven who is going to bring us back to heaven in his full glory is the great call what he deposited in each one of us and that’s the ultimate aim and purpose of our life. It should be done through our lives, actions, speech, work and every steps of our life. And this is the sole purpose behind writing this short book.
“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37, 38 NIV).
Now what is the reward for those who do this great call faithfully? There are many parts in bible talks about the rewards you get for his work. But I would like to point out two verses and would like to summarize this passage.
“Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:27-29 NIV).”
“For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. (Matthew 16:27 NIV).”
With this I would like to conclude this short book of five chapters “A Purposeful Life.” I would like express my sincere thanks to God and everyone who motivated in writing this short book and I would like to keep sharing short thoughts in the coming days in this blog. Big thanks to everyone. God Bless You!
“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NIV).”
