Mysterious Ways!!!

Mysterious Ways!

Today, I want to share on certain circumstances where God, acts unexpectedly and miraculously in life. We know that the loss of a family member is disastrous. The life of a widow and an orphan is no longer the same as in the past. The pain and trauma they go through are beyond words. However, Bible says – “He (God) defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.”Deuteronomy 10:18 NIV. God is the protector and defender of the oppressed and weak.

I would like to draw your attention to a widow who lived in Israel in the ancient world reported in the Bible. We can find this portion in 2 Kings 8:1-6. Here we see the servant of God, Elisha telling a widow and his son to leave Israel and go to the Philistines for seven years as a famine comes to Israel. Before we proceed, we need to know who the widow was. The first she was mentioned in Bible is at 2 Kings:4:8-36. Here we have a noble woman who lives with her husband and lacks nothing in her life. She sees Elisha walking on her way and she invites him to their house and provides him food. Later, she asks her husband to make a room for Elisha so that he can take rest on his way! Her husband consents and makes a room for Elisha on their own home. One day as Elisha pass by she invites him to her house and shows him to his room. Elisha asked his servant Gehazi what she lacked or if there was a prayer request to which Gehazi replied they did not have children. Elisha asks him to call the woman and he tells her she will bear a child next year. She responds that she is happy and satisfied, please do not give her any hope because if in some way this does not happen the disappointment is greater. But according to his words, she gave birth to a baby!

When the kid got older, one day when he was outside, he complained of headaches and he died! The lady took her son to Elisha’s room laid him there and went out to meet Elisha. She met Elisha, who then came to her house and resurrected her dead child! We are now referring to this same woman. Her husband had passed away and she became a widow. She was rich and she could take care of things. However, when God revealed Elisha a famine will strike the land for seven years and she needed to flee to the Philistines. She obeyed and went to Philistines. After seven years when she came back, she sees her land, her house and everything she had been taken by strangers and they refuse to move away from her land.

Now, the only place where justice can be done is the King. She goes to the King, she must be very sad because she is a widow and now her house and her land are taken away from her. It was impossible to prove that they lived there and that the land belonged to them. And there was nobody to speak for her.

This is the place where God acts in unexpected ways! At the same time that she was going to meet the King, God had sent Gehazi to meet the King! The king was fascinated by the works of God done by Elijah. Once he’s finished talking about resurrecting the lady’s dead boy, that’s when the lady gets to the palace! Gehazi, seeing the boy says here is the boy whom Elisha raised from death! The king asks the son and mother about the incident and they say the incident. Upon hearing King asks why she came to meet the King to whom she reports about her house and land. The king commands to recover her house and land and all the revenues of the last seven years and he assigns an officer for this!

Look how miraculous the Lord works! The lady was worried how to explain her case to King! She went into enemy land to survive the famine, it’s hard to explain why she went into enemy land where she could be accused of a spy. In addition, she had no evidence of ownership of the land. She must be very concerned and, to make matters worse, she became a widow and widows were not treated well during those days. But God was with her and at that very moment God sends Gehazi to speak on her behalf!

My beloved, if you are a true follower of Christ and are worried about your situation in life, remember that the God who helped the widow is still able to perform miracles today. For those who cannot do things, who doesn’t have anyone in high places to talk to king or officials do not be discouraged, if you’re a true follower of Jesus Christ he will send the right person to talk to the officials for you! Before you ask how things are going to work, God will set your case! Remember the good deeds of the woman, she built a room in her house and provided food and a bed for Elisha! If you’re someone who takes care God’s people and live according to God’s ways, God will surely hear your heartfelt cry and take the necessary measures. So trust God! Our God is a miraculous God who works through the most unexpected and mysterious ways!
